Basic water treatment processes available to the modern water treatment plant remained largely unchanged through the years. At the same time quality of raw water is deteriorating at a fast rate. Abstract

Admixtures for concrete are not a panacea for concreting problems. They cannot make a weak concrete sound nor their application is universal. Admixtures cannot be allowed for all types of concrete. Except for the use of Calcium Chloride as an accelerator, prior approval by the Engineer-in-Charge is essential before any admixture be used in the field.
